Gesar Trakpo is the wrathful form of King Gesar of Ling, the manifestation of enlightened rulership whose energy cuts powerfully through obstacles of extreme materialism and aggression that are so characteristic of the dark age. 

In the midst of these turbulent times, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche has increasingly stressed the importance of protector practice in our community.  He has asked that we strenghen this aspect of our mandala and has specifically supplicated His Eminence Namkha Drimed Rinpoche to bestow the Gesar Trakpo Abhisheka.  This will empower the vajra sangha to practice this on appropriate occasions.

This program is restricted to those who have received "pointing out" instruction in either the Ripa or Shambhala lineages.  For Shambhalians, this program is restricted to graduates of Shambhala Vajrayana Seminary.  If you are a Ripa Ladrang practionner, the pre-requisite is that you are currently doing ngöndro and pledge to complete it.
